Your data. Your rights.

Our privacy policy.

This policy explains how Queer Between the Lines collects, uses and protects your personal information in accordance with UK data-protection law. Last updated: 19 August 2026

01

Data we collect

When you join the book club, we collect your first name—or your full name if you choose to provide it—and your email address.

We also maintain a record of the emails we send to you and your membership or newsletter preferences.

02

Why we collect it

Your information is used strictly to manage your membership, keep you updated about book-club meetings and events, and send our newsletter if you have opted in to receive it.

03

Email engagement

Our emails may contain a small invisible image that lets us know when an email image has been requested. We record this as a detected open, along with the date, time and limited browser or email-client information.

Detected opens are approximate: some email services preload or cache images, while blocked images may prevent an open from being detected.

04

Access and sharing

Personal data is accessible only to designated book-club administrators and the trusted services used to operate the club, including Google, Notion and Cloudflare.

We do not sell your information or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

05

Retention and deletion

We retain your personal information only while you are an active member or have chosen to receive the newsletter.

If you cancel your membership, we remove your details from our active members database and mailing list, and delete or anonymise related email records, except where limited retention is required for security, legal or operational reasons.

06

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law, you may ask to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, withdraw newsletter consent or request deletion of your information.

You may also object to or ask us to restrict certain uses of your personal data.

07

Website analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand general website usage. This may collect information such as device, browser and page activity. You can limit analytics through your browser or device privacy settings.

08

Contact us
